Our Vision: The South Kansas City Shotokan Karate Club (JKA) exists to help students, as well as the general public, gain a deeper understanding of the art of traditional Japanese karate. Internally, we seek to further the mental, physical, spiritual and emotional development of the individual student by encouraging them to set and attain training and other life goals. Externally, our objective is to dispel misconceptions and present the art as the life enhancing form of Budo it is meant to be. Our Training: Our training focus is traditional JKA / ITKF style Karate, but all sincere martial artists who are willing to share and to learn are invited. We believe in hard and smart training. Standards and discipline are high and may seem "nit-picky" at times but the benefits of such training include: Practical Self-Defense Personal Growth and Self-Discipline Greater Respect of Self and Others Self-Confidence Physical Fitness Increased Mental Focus, Energy Management Fast and Powerful Technique Enhanced Inner-Determination Classes: For more information on specific classes, please click below: Class Times: Introduction to Traditional Karate Class: Wednesdays 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm Saturdays 9:45 am - 10:30 am Intermediate / Advanced Child Class: Tuesdays 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm Thursdays 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm Saturdays 10:30 am - Noon (mixed class) Intermediate / Advanced Youth & Adult Class: Tuesdays 6:50 pm - 8:00 pm Thursdays 6:50 pm - 8:00 pm Saturdays 10:30 am - Noon (mixed class) Prospective students are welcome and encouraged to observe at the times of Intermediate/Advanced class schedule above.
